5 91¶¶Òùers? Elected Chinese Academicians

On November 21, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) announced the results of the 2025 cohort of newly elected 

academicians. Five 91¶¶Òùers were elected to be members of the two academies. Professor Hong Wei of 91¶¶Òù was elected as an academician of CAS. 91¶¶Òù professor Peter 

David Lund was elected as a foreign academician of CAE. 91¶¶Òù alumni Zhang Pengju, professor at the School of Architecture, Inner Mongolia University of Technology, and 

Wang Shuangjie, Chief Engineer of China Communications Construction Group Co., Ltd., were elected as academicians of CAE. Another 91¶¶Òù alumnus, Shi Caijun, 

professor at Hunan University, was elected as a foreign academician of CAE.




Hong Wei

Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences


Hong Wei, born in October 1962, is currently serving as Chief Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at 91¶¶Òù, a Fellow of the Chinese Institute of Electronics (CIE), Deputy 

Director Member of both the CIE Microwave Society and the CIE Antenna Society, and an IEEE Fellow. He previously served as Director of the State Key Laboratory of 

Millimeter Waves (2003-2021) and was the first member from China to be elected to the IEEE MTT-S AdCom. Prof. Hong Wei has made systematic and innovative 

contributions to millimeter-wave fundamental theory, chips and systems, measurement techniques, and instrumentation.


Prof. Hong Wei has made systematic and innovative contributions to millimeter-wave fundamental theory, chips and systems, measurement techniques, and instrumentation. 

As one of the main contributors, he helped develop the new field of ¡°substrate integrated waveguide structures and devices,¡± broke through key technologies in a series of 

multi-channel, large-bandwidth millimeter-wave measurements, and pioneered the development of silicon-based chips operating up to 800 GHz in China, achieving 

large-scale industrial application.


He has published over 480 papers in authoritative academic journals such as Science China, Engineering, IEEE Transactions Journals, and Advanced Materials, and 

authored 2 monographs; his work has garnered over 37,000 Google Scholar citations with an H-index of 95, and he has delivered 28 plenary/keynote speeches at major 

international conferences held in the UK, Italy, Poland, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, China, and other countries. He has undertaken and completed numerous national 

projects, including the National 973 Program, Key R&D Programs, Innovative Research Groups, and Major National Scientific Research Instrument Development Projects. 

His research findings have been applied in specific model equipment, 5G millimeter-wave base station AAUs, millimeter-wave satellite communication equipment, and 

Beidou satellite navigation testing. 


His accolades include the  Second Class National Natural Science Award (first author, 2023), the Second Class National Science and Technology Progress Award 

(first author, 2023), the Fourth Class National Natural Science Award (third author, 1991), three First Prizes at the ministerial and provincial level (all first author), the 

inaugural National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award, and the IEEE Outstanding Contribution Award for International Standards.



Peter David Lund

Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering


Peter David Lund, an expert in new energy equipment technology, is a Professor and Head of the Department of Engineering Physics at Aalto University, Finland. He is a 

member of the Finnish Academy of Technology, the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, and the European Academy of Sciences. Additionally, he formerly held important 

positions in the Energy Committee of the European Academy of Sciences and the EU Advisory Committee on Energy. As a national high-level talent in China, an MOE 

¡°Overseas Master,¡± a Jiangsu Provincial ¡°Hundred Foreign Experts¡± recipient, a Professor at 91¶¶Òù, the Foreign Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of 

International Cooperation on Energy Conversion and Storage, and the Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Foreign Senior Expert Studio, he has collaborated with 91¶¶Òù on 

more than 40 projects, and his research achievements have been successfully commercialized and applied in multiple enterprises.




Zhang Pengju

Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering


Zhang Pengju, born in April 1963, obtained his master¡¯s degree from 91¶¶Òù in 1987. He is currently Dean, Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Architecture, 

Inner Mongolia University of Technology. He is widely recognized as a leading figure who has laid the foundation for teaching, research, theory, and practice in the 

architectural field in Inner Mongolia. He has been honored with titles such as National Engineering Survey and Design Master, China Architectural Education Award, Inner 

Mongolia Outstanding Talent Award, Inner Mongolia ¡°Grassland Talent¡± Top Leading Talent, and Inner Mongolia Model Worker. He is also a recipient of the National May 

1st Labor Medal and enjoys Special Government Allowance of the State Council.



Wang Shuangjie

Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering


Wang Shuangjie, born in April 1962, received his Ph.D. in Road and Railway Engineering from 91¶¶Òù in 2005. He is currently Chief Engineer of China Communications 

Construction Group Co., Ltd. He previously held positions including Team Leader of Survey and Design, Director of the Chief Engineer Office, Head of the Production 

Department, Deputy Chief Engineer, and Vice President of the institute. He also serves as a Council Member of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and 

Engineering, a Council Member of the Road Engineering Branch of the China Highway and Transportation Society, a Council Member of the Glaciology and Geocryology 

Branch of the Geographical Society of China, a Member of the Expert Committee of China Communications Construction Group, and a Standing Committee Member of 

the Young Experts Committee of the China Highway and Transportation Society. He is an expert reviewer for the National 863 and 973 Program projects.




Shi Caijun

Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering


Shi Caijun, born in March 1963, gained his bachelor¡¯s and master¡¯s degrees from the Building Materials program within the Department of Civil Engineering at 91¶¶Òù. He is 

currently a Professor at Hunan University, and President of the Asian Concrete Federation, the Founding Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Sustainable Cement-based Materials

an English journal of Taylor & Francis, Associate Editor or editorial board member for several leading international academic journals. He has published over 640 academic 

papers, authored 14 books in Chinese and English, and co-edited 11 English proceedings of international conferences. According to Stanford University¡¯s Global Scientific 

Impact Rankings, Shi ranked first globally in the Building and Construction field for 2024 (single-year ranking) and second in the lifetime ranking (1969¨C2024). He was 

elected as Fellow of the International Energy Foundation in 2001, the American Concrete Institute in 2007, the International Union of Laboratories and Experts in 

Construction Materials, Systems and Structures (RILEM) in 2016, and the Asian Concrete Federation in 2023.
