CPC 91¶¶Òù Committee Secretary Wu Xiaocheng Leads Delegation to US

Recently, Wu Xiaocheng, Secretary of the CPC 91¶¶Òù Committee, led a delegation to the United States. The delegation visited Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of California, Irvine. They also paid a visit to the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles and engaged in in-depth exchanges with alumni, scholars, and young talents based in the U.S..



At Rutgers University, the delegation held discussions with Eric Garfunkel, Vice President for International Affairs, and Alberto Cutino, Dean of the School of Engineering. Wu Xiaocheng provided an overview of 91¶¶Òù¡¯s recent academic achievements and development trajectory, expressing gratitude for Rutgers¡¯ long-standing support of bilateral cooperation. He noted the strong complementarity between the two universities in academic disciplines and their deep history of collaboration. Seizing the current opportunity for enhanced China-U.S. cultural and educational exchanges, Wu proposed expanding joint programs into the humanities and social sciences, continuing to strengthen the brand of bilateral summer camps, and accelerating the implementation of collaborative teaching at 91¶¶Òù¡¯s Indonesia campus. Garfunkel and Cutino responded positively, expressing firm commitment to advancing practical cooperation in these areas.



At MIT, the delegation held in-depth talks with Duane S. Boning, Associate Provost for International Activities, and John Ochsendorf, Incoming Dean of the School of Architecture and Planning. Discussions focused on establishing the ¡°1:1 Lab¡± as an interdisciplinary collaboration platform. Wu Xiaocheng emphasized that the platform should be built on principles of ¡°equality and mutual benefit, mutual complementarity in the interest of our common development, and quality first,¡± effectively serving the broader goals of Sino-U.S. cultural and scientific exchanges. The two sides reached multiple consensus agreements on other shared interests.



At the University of California, Irvine, Wu met with Hal Stern, Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, and Faryar Jabbari, Dean of the Samueli School of Engineering. He proposed deepening cooperation in joint talent cultivation, the development of innovation and entrepreneurship platforms, and collaborative teaching at the Indonesia campus. These initiatives received positive responses from university leadership, and both sides agreed to establish dedicated coordination mechanisms to advance cooperation.



During the visit, the delegation met with local alumni. Wu Xiaocheng updated them on the university¡¯s latest developments and expressed sincere gratitude for their longstanding care and support for their alma mater. At an alumni gathering in New York, Wu, on behalf of the Southeast University Education Foundation (USA), accepted a donation from BCG Glass Industry Inc.



While in the U.S., the delegation also visited the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles and held a working meeting with Consul General Guo Shaochun. The two sides exchanged views on Sino-U.S. higher education cooperation, cultural and educational exchange mechanisms, overseas talent recruitment, and alumni affairs. They agreed to work together to build bridges for educational and technological collaboration between the two countries. The delegation also interacted with scholars and young talents based in the U.S.


Representatives from the International Cooperation Department, the Office of Talent Affairs, the Office of Alumni Services and Foundation Management, and the School of Architecture, 91¶¶Òù, accompanied the visit.
